Shakira and boyfriend Gerard welcome home their first child together, named Milan Pique Mebarak. The baby boy weighed in at 6 lbs, 6 oz. and was born on January 22 at 9:36 pm in Spain, Barcelona.  The news was announced on Tuesday on Shakira’ website by a representative.

“The name Milan (MEE-lahn) , means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic. in Ancient Roman, eager of laborious ; and in Sanskrit, unification,” the couple wrote in a statement on their blog.

The new born is already following in his soccer-playing father’s footsteps. Milan was sworn in as a member of the FC Barcelona team. “Just like his father, baby Milan became a member of FC Barcelona at birth,”

The couple met back in September of 2010 on the set of Shakira’s video for the South Africa World Cup theme song “Waka Waka”. The song was a charity effort to encourage fans to send money to poverty striken-children.

During her pregnancy, Shakira and Pique started a virtual “baby shower” that urged visitors to donate money that will go towards providing food, vaccines, and and other necessities to babies in need around the world.

Shakira won’t have much a maternity leave, as the singer will be joining Usher, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton as a judge on the third season of “The Voice” in March. Shakira replaces Christina Aguilera this season, while Usher replaces Cee-Lo Green.

Season four of the hit television show “The Voice” is shaping up to be one of the best, with R&B singer Usher and pop star Shakira replacing Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera. The new judges have promised to bring more competition to “The Voice,” and keep fans on the edge of their seat through every episode. Adam Levine, one of the returning judges, joked that Shakira would be the one to watch out for saying, “You have a pregnant, hormonal Colombian,” he says. “She’s ready to bust some heads. She ain’t messing around.”

Shakira isn’t fazed by the rest of the judges, saying “Spending some time with these guys, I can only tell you that it is the best — they joke all the time and make me laugh onstage, offstage,” she said. “They have been such great hosts making us, Usher and me, feel at home at all times.” Shakira was quick to point out that the competition between the judges is real though, saying “Spending some time with these guys, I can only tell you that it is the best — they joke all the time and make me laugh onstage, offstage,” she said. “They have been such great hosts making us, Usher and me, feel at home at all times.”

Usher was also quick to point out that he’s somebody to watch out for too, telling interviewers “My style is more military than anything, because I’m all about the preparation and have always been. I rehearse a million times to be prepared. My style is to make them understand the seriousness of the craft and that they have the very best opportunity to be the greatest or the worst, depending on how you take it.”

Colombian beauty Shakira is being sued by her ex-boyfriend, Antonio de la Rue, for $100 million, as he claims that he acted as her business manager and was the “principal architect” of the campaign that made her famous. Because of his part in managing her career he is seeking to “recover his share of past and future partnership profits.”

The two met back in 2000, after la Rue had successfully managed his father’s presidential campaign in Argentina. A short time later, Shakira became upset that her first world tour had lost money and fired her manager, asking la Rue to step in. According to la Rue, the two agreed that he would receive a share of her profits “in exchange for the contribution of his business and marketing skills, knowledge and expertise.”

Shakira, in the meantime, has filed a counter suit, claiming that la Rue misappropriated funds by giving himself unauthorized bonuses and using business funds for personal expenses.
