Uma Thurman is ready to have onscreen sex for Lars Von Trier. Uma Thurman has signed on to play an unnamed character in “Nymphomaniac,” Von Trier’s upcoming film about sexual exploration.

Lars Von Trier has pulled together a large A-list cast for “Nymphomaniac,” which will actually wind up being two feature films by the time its finished. Not only did Lars get Uma Thurman, Shia LaBeouf, Stellan Skarsgard, he also managed to get Christian Slater and Jamie Bell who are set to co-star. Charlotte Gainsbourg is the film’s star, and “Nymphomaniac” focuses on her character’s sexual history.

“Nymphomaniac” captured everyone’s attention over the summer when it was revealed that the film could include real sex between its stars.

Making a water rocket is not as complex as it sounds! Follow the given simple steps to prepare your very own water rocket.

Tools Required

Water

plastic tube

valve stem

soap (optional)

bicycle pump

wood board

plastic bottle

nozzles

screwdriver

nails

pen

wood glue

sandpaper

adhesive

saw

stopper

2 inch flexible copper tube

Making the Body of the Rocket

Empty the plastic bottle if it contains water.

Now, use a pen to draw a fin shape on the wood board.

Cut the fin shape using the saw.

Use sandpaper to smooth the rough edges.

Put some glue on the fin and attach it to the bottle.

Make three or four fins.

Making the Launch Pad

Cut the wood boards into 2 x 2 sections.

Now, hinge the 2 x2 sections together.

It is time to make the chute. When you build a water rocket, this will serve as its base. Take another bottle. Cut it into two parts from top to bottom. Cut the neck area so it does not get entangled when the bottle goes up.

Use a screwdriver and nails to fasten it onto the board.

If you want you can paint it too. However it is best to finish making all the components before painting anything.

Making the Pump

Make a small hole in the stopper (1/4 inch should do).

Take the 2 inches of flexible copper tube and apply glue around it. Ensure that you do not clog the mouth.

Now, attach the copper tube within the stopper.

Trim the valve stem to make it fit within the plastic tube. Make sure that it has been fixed firmly. You can use glue in order to do this.

Preparing to Launch the Rocket

Fill the bottle with water.

Do not fill it completely. Half the bottle will be good enough.

Now, fasten the stopper on the bottle. Put the bottle upside down on the chute you just made.

The final step to build a water rocket is to connect the valve to the bike pump and pump in air.

Do this slowly. Eventually the bottle will blast off into the air. The typical air pressure would be 70 to 75%.

Tips and Warnings

Do not touch the bottle while pumping gas. It might suddenly go up without warning. In rare cases, the bottle will not go off. Be patient when you build a water rocket.

The nozzles you use can make a big difference. A large nozzle means it will reach greater heights. But it will lose water more quickly. The opposite is true of smaller nozzles. You can also add soap to increase air time. Just mix it with the water before pumping in the air.

Replace the bottle after several launches. Repeated air pumping takes it toll on a bottle. Any kind of bottle will do. You can use soft drink bottles too, but plastic is most ideal.

Do not put too much air into the bottle. Also keep a safe distance, both when you are pumping air and afterwards.

Never try this indoors. The bottle could propel itself all the way to the roof and hit something. Do this outdoors. Stay away from buildings and homes.

Not only is this project fun, but you also get to learn something about air pressure and gas.

Every city in Britain has a claim to fame, a raison d’etre. Even Hull can claim the trophy for the Suicide Capital of Yorkshire, although I’m not sure how that would go down on a tourism billboard. Manchester has Factory Records. Newcastle, regrettably, has Sting. But what about Bristol?

A Cosmic Force

Farmers aside, the city has proved a cosmic force in the shaping of musical genres throughout modern history, Bristol is compact, but packs a punch in the youth culture stakes of Britain. Forget about London, this is where hip-hop became trip-hop and drum and bass cut its fangs. Not to mention the fact that achingly wicked graff artist Banksy started his career here, prowling the streets of Bristol and raiding an artistic canvas from the city walls. So what is it about the clay of the city that moulds such progressive talent?

The metropolis has traditionally been multi-cultural and diverse. Black and Asian immigrant communities have flourished in Bristol and the influence of reggae, dub and ska has skeins in the very soil of the earth. Racial tensions have ebbed and flowed throughout the latter part of the twentieth century, and the socio-economic culture of the city has absorbed this. Political riots and urban dissent have been part of Bristol for a long time, and progressive music or art are often products of such an environment. Combine this with diverse cultures placed side by side, exchanging thoughts and ideas; and the foundations for a powerful undercurrent of urban youth culture are laid.

New Formulas

An evolving music scene began to meld elements of the city’s people with trends and sounds like hip-hop and dance from across the pond in America, and create new formulas. Raw talent like Massive Attack and Portishead were among those responsible for pioneering the Bristol Sound, a melancholic and introspective melding of hip-hop, dance and psychedelic influences. In the late eighties and early nineties the Bristol scene exploded and musical genres proliferated. Underground cultures like garage, drum and bass and grime emerged like phoenixes from the ashes in Bristol, and to this day the city remains a front runner in underground bass-driven music culture.

So next time you’re in the South West and in search of a good night out, head to The Croft, or one of Bristol’s many wonderful little gems. Sweat drips from the ceiling, the beer comes cheap and the decks will be spinning something dark and dirty from the heartland of British grime and bass culture, I guarantee you. Enjoy.

This article was written by Emma Hill. You can often spot her in Bristol’s bars & clubs wearing a Banksy t shirt.

The “Think Like A Man” movie, Based on the Steve Harvey book “Act like a Lady, Think like a Man,” is about a group of men who find out that the women in their lives are using Steve Harvey’s book to gain the upper-hand in the relationship. The women use the book almost like a bible, often employing the same tactics that the book talks about. The cast of the movie is filled with some of the biggest and best names in Hollywood, including Michael Ealy, Meagan Good, Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson and Regina Hall. Only time will tell whether or not the movie will knock “The Hunger Games” off the number one spot. Check out what some of the critics are saying about the movie below:

” ‘Think Like a Man’ is a romantic ensemble comedy — an excessively populated and chatty two-hour one — spun from comedian and syndicated radio host Steve Harvey’s 2009 self-help relationship bestseller ‘Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man’…The fact that the movie adaptation uses just the latter half of Harvey’s book title is your first clue to its slant. It centers around a fraternity of six friends — each designated in the intro as a particular ‘type’ (as per Harvey’s book) — who regularly meet to play basketball, drink and talk about women. Four of them discover that the women they are involved with (who are also ‘types’) are applying Harvey’s wisdom to the relationship dynamic, so the men study up and turn the game to the home-team advantage for what amounts to a temporary fix.” — Jennie Punter, The Globe and Mail

“Forget hackneyed clichés about Players and Dreamers and the scheming women who seek to domesticate them. Focus on the pleasures of watching a group of gifted actors spar and seduce each other with genuine warmth, and ‘Think Like a Man’ just might go straight to your head.” — Ann Hornaday, The Washington Post

“Every primary cast member is appealing, elevating the disposable plot — men and women are in constant battle, yawn — into a funny, sexy take on contemporary dating. Middling lines are delivered with sharp sass; tired stereotypes are … well, still tired, actually (women manipulate and nag, men lie and evade). But at least the actors offer gentle twists that take away some of the sting.” — Elizabeth Weitzman, New York Daily News

” ‘Think Like a Man’ is occasionally funny, though its dirty riffs — most provided by Kevin Hart as the Happily Divorced Guy — are as formulaic as its earnest parts. The movie isn’t liable to surprise you. Nor will it bore or offend you, even if you find Mr. Harvey’s shtick more old-school sexist than old-school courtly.” — Rachel Saltz, The New York Times

“These 30-something folks, comfortable in their circumstances and their skins, are allowed to be smart of heart if baffled by the 21st-century courtship game. There’s nothing profound going on here; the truisms don’t blossom into life-enriching truths. It’s more like the person you meet at a bar who, on second glance, is surprisingly attractive. Call ‘Think Like a Man’ a perfectly satisfactory one-night stand at the movies.” — Richard Corliss, TIME
