During an annual shareholder meeting in Phoenix, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that the company is currently developing “some standalone movies” that will feature many of the Star Wars characters we have come to know and love. This news comes as a big surprise considering that Disney is planning on releasing an Episode 7, 8 and 9 in the famed movie series.

The buzz for the Lucasfilm franchise has been at a fevered pitch ever since Disney acquired the studio back in October for $4 billion. What Iger did not say, however, is what characters would be featured in the upcoming standalone films. So you might get a movie centered around Chewbacca and many other notable characters from the series.

Characters such as bounty hunter Boba Fett have been given bigger treatments in comic books, but this will be the first time they get the same thing on the big movie screen. Only time will tell at this point.
