Legendary rhythm guitar player John Wilkinson passed away at this home is Missouri Friday at the age of 67. Best known for performing with Elvis Presley, Wilkinson had been battling cancer at the time of his death.

Wilkinson first crossed paths with Presley when he was just 10 years old. According to legend the young Wilkinson met the singer in his dressing room before a show in Springfield and told him, “You can’t play guitar worth a damn.”

Wilkinson went on to make a name for himself in the music industry playing with acts like The New Christy Minstrels and at the age of 23 sought out Elvis once again and asked to join his TCB Band. The two went on to play over 1,200 shows together until Elvis’s passing in 1977.

Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley issued a statement offering their “deepest sympathy” for Wilkinson’s family saying, “John and the beautiful music he made with Elvis will live forever in our hearts.”

Starting out in Hollywood as an actor in 1975, Ellis quickly switched gears to stunt coordinating and eventually moved up to second unit directing. In 1996 he made his directorial debut with “Homeward Bound 2: Lost in San Francisco.”

Ellis was in Johannesburg working on a remake of the 1988 Japanese anime film “Kite” that was to star Samuel L. Jackson. The cause of death is still unknown but authorities do not suspect foul play at this time. Jackson took to Twitter today to say: “So sad to hear of David R. Ellis passing! So talented, so kind, such a Good Friend. He’ll be missed. Gone too soon!”

Fans and friends were saddened this week to learn of the passing of Antoine Ashley, better known by his stage name Sahara Davenport who was featured on season 2 of RuPaul’s Drage Race, he was only 27 years old. RuPaul and Logo network reps were quick to share their condolences on social media today saying “Logo is profoundly saddened by the passing of Antoine Ashley who fans around the world knew and loved as Sahara Davenport. He was an amazing artist and entertainer who’ll be deeply missed by his Logo family.” Reps also sent their condolences to Sahara’s long time boyfriend and fellow drag queen Karl Westerberg. Westerberg competed in season 3 of  ‘Drag Race’ and is scheduled to appear in the new season of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race:All-Stars’ which is set to premiere the at the end of this month. RuPaul tweeted today: “Shocked & heartbroken over @SaharaDavenport. Never occurred to me that we’d ever lose one of my girls. I see them as immortal.” No details have been released yet as to the cause of death.
