Starz announced this week that they are pulling the plug after only two seasons of their political drama ‘Boss’ starring Kelsey Grammer. The show got off to a good start, it was renewed for a second season before the first had even debuted, it received praise from critics and Kelsey Grammer picked up a Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal of Tom Kane, a corrupt Chicago mayor, but at the end of the day they just couldn’t get the viewership to save the show.

The show debuted to only 659,000 viewers and season 2 averaged only 580,000, and that’s including several airings of each episode. The network issued a statement today saying: “After much deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to not proceed with ‘Boss.’ We remain proud of this award-winning show, its exceptional cast and writers and are grateful to Kelsey Grammer, Farhad Safinia and our partners at Lionsgate TV.”
