For a long time now there’s been rumors that Barbara Walters was on the verge of retiring from her role as a co-host on The View, and she finally came out and confirmed the rumors as true.

The 83-year-old Walters announced to fans that she plans on retiring from her gig in the Summer of 2014 to move to ABC News on Sunday night, which Walters linked to in a Twitter post, writing, “Big news – and I want to tell you first… (Looking forward to one more great year!)”

“I am very happy with my decision and look forward to a wonderful and special year ahead both on ‘The View’ and with ABC News,” said Walters, who created the morning talk show in 1997. “I created ‘The View’ and am delighted it will last beyond my leaving it.”

ABC News also mentioned that Walters will remain on The View as a producer, even though she will no longer be a host.

“I do not want to appear on another program or climb another mountain,” she said. “I want instead to sit on a sunny field and admire the very gifted women – and OK, some men too – who will be taking my place.’

2013 hasn’t been a great year for Barbara Walters, co-host of The View television show.

Walters, 83, first cut her head when she had a bad fall and had to be rushed to the hospital. Once there, Walters developed a bad fever that made the doctors wanna hold her there to further monitor her. It was then discovered that Walters had the Chickenpox disease, something people usually get when they’re kids.

“You all know that she fell and cut her head 10 days ago, and then was running a temperature, but it turns out it is all the result of a delayed childhood,” Whoopi said. “Barbara has the chickenpox. She’d never had it as a child. So now she’s been told to rest, she’s not allowed any visitors, and we’re telling you, Barbara, no scratching!”

“We love you. We miss you. We just don’t want to hug you,” Goldberg quipped.

We wish Walters a quick and speedy recovery.

Kirstie Alley has been making the talk show circuit this week and opening up about her past relationships with her sexy leading men.

The first revelation came Monday when Alley spoke with Chris Jacobs, host of Entertainment Tonight. She told Jacobs that she and Patrick Swayze had a secret relationship back in the 80’s when the two met on the set of “North and South.” Alley said that despite the fact that they were both married at the time they experienced an “intense chemistry” upon meeting. “I could feel someone sort of looking at me and at first I didn’t look. But then I leaned forward and it was Patrick and he had this big smile on his face. And I thought ‘DO NOT go down this road.’” Alley went on to claim that while the two fell in love they never became physically intimate. “But again, I think what we did was worse because I think when you fall in love with someone when you’re married, you jeopardize your own marriage and their marriage. It’s doubly bad.”

Today Alley, who is currently competing on Dancing with the Stars, sat down with Barbara Walters for the show Good Morning America to drop another bombshell revealing that John Travolta was “the greatest love” of her life. Alley first met Travolta on the set of “Look Who’s Talking” in 1989 and the attraction was immediate. Alley went on to say that “Believe me, it took everything I had inside, outside, whatever, to not run off and marry John and be with John for the rest of my life.” Travolta was single when the two met but Alley was still involved in her second marriage. As to the rumors that Travolta is secretly gay, Alley responded: “I know John with all my heart and soul. He’s not gay. I think in some weird way, in Hollywood, if someone gets big enough and famous enough, and they’re not out doing drugs and they’re not womanizing, what do you say about them?”

All’s fair in love and reality television. This week the hottest story in the entertainment world has been the huge blow up between diva Mariah Carey and hip hop artist Nicki Minaj. Much of Tuesday’s blowout between the two American Idol judges was captured on video and the published on celebrity gossip site TMZ’s website and now even Barabara Walters is getting in on the action. According to Walters, Mariah Carey told her that Minaj threatened to shoot her. On her talk show ‘The View’ Walters said that in a phone conversation with Mariah Carey that she was told “when Nicki walked off the set multiple people heard Nickio say, ‘If I had a gun I would shoot the …. bitch.” For now the show will go on despite the feud between the pair but its taking a toll on Carey who told Walters that she doesn’t feel “comfortable emotionally” and has had to hire extra security to deal with threat she perceives from her co-worker.
