It’s no secret that Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore split quite some time ago, but legally they were still married to each other. That didn’t stop them from going there separate ways and finding new spouses to occupy their time.

Now, over a year after the couple announced their separation to the world, Kutcher officially filed divorce papers making the split official on Dec.21, 2012. In the court documents, Ashton Kutcher cites irreconcilable differences as the reason behind the split. Kutcher did not request any spousal support from Moore, and is also not asking to deny Moore any requests for her own spousal support.

Kutcher and Moore were married for six years before his highly publicized one night stand with party girl Sara Leal in September 2011. After the incident became public Moore released a statement, saying “As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.”

Not to be outdone, Kutcher released his own statement saying “I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and light, AK.” Kutcher has since begun dating actress Mila Kunis since last spring.

Although the end of the world came and went without so much as a hiccup, Ashton Kutcher finally filed for divorce from Demi Moore after more than a year of a tension filled and frustrating relationship. The divorcee papers were drawn up and filed in a Los Angeles superior court on Friday according to People. Irreconcilable differences were cited as the reason for the split and Ashton will not be asking for any kind of spousal support. The divorce should go relatively smoothly with no kids in the picture.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton,” Moore said in a statement back in November 2011. “As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.”

The two were caught on camera Monday kissing passionately in New York City’s Central Park. Rumors of the romantic hook up have been circulating since April when the two were first seen out on the town together and now it seems that they are ready to be officially linked as a couple. The two were seen sitting on a rock together in central park kissing, holding hands and chatting. Earlier in the day the two were also seen having an intimate lunch together. Neither stars have officially confirmed the relationship and Kunis has been denying that there is a blossoming romance between the two for months but between the vacations, dates and plenty of PDA it appears that the cat is out of the bag for the former co-stars.
