Ashley Madekwe, who plays Ashley Davenport on the series Revenge, is hanging up the towel. Ashley Davenport has been making quite a bit of noise as the frenemy of the Revenge gang, but reports claim her character won’t be returning for the third season.

Deadline reports that Madekwe will not return to the suspenseful nighttime drama for the third season. The reports cite that Ashley Davenport’s role will not be reprise due to “storyline reasons”. It’s not that much of a surprise since all of the Revenge characters ended the season with huge plot twists, except for Davenport.

Davenport started off as one of the first friends of Emily Thorne, the lead role played by Emily VanCamp, when she first came to the Hamptons. Davenport was pivotal in introducing Thorne to others on the water front. They quickly turned into enemies as they both vied to be fully committed to the Grayson family.

Madekwe isn’t the only actor not returning to the series. In the season finale, the character Declan Porter, played by Connor Paolo, died. There won’t be any scenes for Paolo next season unless its for a trademark Revenge flashback scene ..or he comes back to life like in a soap opera.

It’s safe to say that things will be very different in the third season and there will be some fresh faces. Revenge returns to ABC in the fall.
