This year is the year for the stylish and modern cowgirl. And for that cowgirl who is trying to update her wardrobe for the Spring/Summer season well, it will be a cinch! With western accessories, faded denim jeans, glamorous boots and cowgirl-cool leather and suede…designers are keepin’ it country!
From head to toe, you can be a fashionista straight off the runway and ranch with dudette ball caps and traditional western cowgirl hats. The dudette hats are similar to the trucker hats that swept the fashion scene a few years ago but now with more of a sporty influence. Don’t forget the pigtails underneath!
Country girls will also be rocking tank tops with open button down blouses in flannel and solid colors over the tank tops, faded-looking leather jackets and traditional or all-white denim jeans for that everyday look. Other simple outfits for the country girl at heart will be anything with texture: modern lace with a tweed skirt paired with some boots and also look out for floral dresses! To go with this everyday look, tie a floral scarf around your neck, put it in your hair or tie it to your bag. For the everyday boot, go for a befringed and chain-adorned slouchy look. The slouchy boot will compliment a nice floral sundress or the everyday blue jeans.
Accessorize with true frontier fashion using big jewelry and other accents! Look for solid metal cuffs, beaded necklaces with suede center pieces, turquoise rodeo earrings, wrinkled-made ombre scarves, large belt buckles or chambray belts, and studded boots tall or short this season. And for those nights line dancing out on the town, pick up a pair of modern cowgirl boots that are on trend this season. These new boots look like a pair of tall boots that were morphed with an open toed high heel that makes for a much more elegant look. This heel was shown in Paris last year during fashion week. You will be sure to find these in metallic leather, reptile skin, and cut outs in the toe and ankle areas. For those glamorous boots pair them with a dark boot-cut pair of jeans a nice knit body-hugging shirt, and solid colored cowgirl hat.
Let’s talk about purses. Whether you’re headed to a hoe-down or work, there is a western-inspired bag for you! Bags, clutches, mini backpacks and satchels will be anything but boring this spring and summer season with animal print, fur, leather, and suede pieces with cow hide and western beaded designs on them. Look for added accents on these bags, like feathers, tassels and fringe that will really make a statement. And don’t worry; most designers are keeping their collections PETA-friendly by using faux materials!
Really, with top designers such as Michael Kors, Mark Jacobs, 7 For All Man Kind, DKNY, Betsey Johnson, all the way to Juicy Couture all having western-inspired looks in their collections, it should feel like the ol’ wild wild west, this Spring and Summer!
