Country singer Miranda Lambert broke down into tears during her performance at the “Healing the Heartland” benefit for Oklahoma tornado victims. The singer could not hold back tears as she performed her hit song, “The House That Built Me”.
Lambert, known for her emotional moments on stage, got choked up at the benefit concert live from the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. The broadcast was also aired live on NBC.
During her performance, Miranda had to move away from the microphone to regain composure after shedding a few tears. She choked up while singing the verse about building your dream home from scratch. “Mama cut out pictures of houses ..” sang Lambert as tears began to fall. She proceeded to aim the mic towards to crowd as they finished singing the verse. At the end of the song, the country singer was wiping away tears as she told the crowd “Sorry”, adding, “I love you, Oklahoma.”
Along with Lambert, her husband Blake Shelton was among musical performances. Others included Reba McEntire, Ryan Tedder, Darius Rucker, Usher, Rascal Flatts, and Luke Bryan. The benefit was organized to raise donations for victims of the Oklahoma tornadoes that devastated the state on May 20.
