Billboard has projected A$AP Rocky’s debut album “Long.Live.A$AP” to premiere as number 1 on next week’s Billboard 200 album chart.
Industry projections put the rapper’s first weeks sales at around 130,000 copies for the tracking week that ends on Sunday. The Harlem rapper got some help from his top five R&B/Hip-Hop hit “F—-n Problems” featuring Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and 2 Chainz. This boosedt A$AP’s slow early-year release week.
The only other new title expected to chart the top 10 is the Kidz Bop 23 compilation. The new Billboard 200 chart’s top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, January 23.
“This album is more advanced; it’s like [I] graduated,” A$AP told MTV News. “It took me a year to do it, so everything I’ve been going through –as far as life inspiration — is all from within this past year after I got my record deal. ‘Live.Love.A$AP’ (the mixtape) [is life] before the record deal and ‘Long.Live.A$AP’ is after the deal”
Rocky enlists Clams Casion to produce ‘Long live A$AP” and “Hell”. The rapper also co-produced a few tracks on the album, including “Fashion Killa”. Scrillex added his EDM style on the raucous track “Wild for the Night”.
A$AP Rocky’s debut album “Long.Live.A$AP” is available on January 17 through A$AP Worldwide/Polo Grounds/RCA Records.
